2020 Ford Escape Review and Specs
MSRP Range: $24,885 - $36,835
The 2020 Ford Escape is one of the tops of its class as a compact SUV. The redesigned Escape provides plenty of power and a smooth ride on most roadways. Compared to other compact SUVs in its class, it offers a smooth handling experience and a soft yet powerful driving experience overall. The interior is surprisingly spacious, and many of its driver assistance features come standard, making this a great option for a first-time driver.
Speaking of first-time drivers, and rounding out some of the Escape's best features overall, is its reliability and safety ratings, which resulted in it making U.S. News' list of the 2020 Best New SUV for Teens $20k to $25k. With an optional hybrid powertrain that produces 40 mpg, this compact SUV is an all-around winner, and Ford Escape reviews agree.
2020 Ford Escape Interior and Features
Ford redesigned the Escape for 2020, and the changes are practical improvements. The Ford Escape is already known for its practicality in that it can meet just about any of your needs. Sized between the EcoSport SUV and the three-row Explorer, it's comparable to the Honda CR-V, Toyota RAV4, and Chevrolet Equinox. Its updates, especially the driver assistance features, make it worthy of purchasing over the used models. These additions and updates are worth the purchase of the 2020 model:
-
driver drowsiness monitoring
-
automatic emergency braking
-
blind-spot monitoring
-
forward collision warning
The Escape seats five people and affords its driver thorough visibility. It offers plenty of space for all passengers with comfortable seats in both rows. Its second-row seats taller adults more comfortably than many trucks and other compact SUVs, even with tall people sitting in the front row. The available space also includes cargo as it offers 33.5 cubic feet in the back and 65.4 cubic feet with the rear seats folded, which beats out its competitors. It includes two LATCH car-seat connectors in the second row.
Infotainment and Navigation
A SYNC system and 4.2-inch display come standard in the 2020 Ford Escape along with a six-speaker audio system. The vehicle also includes a standard USB port. Additional options include a larger, 8-inch touch screen, GPS navigation, Android and Apple CarPlay, satellite radio, WiFi, and a 10-speaker B&O audio system. The SE trim includes the SYNC 3 infotainment system.
2020 Ford Escape Exterior and Performance
The 2020 redesign includes its exterior, as well, and results in a sportier look. The powertrain lineup is updated in 2020, too; a 180-horsepower turbocharged three-cylinder engine comes standard, and a 250-horsepower turbo-four is available. Both provide enough power for nearly anything you do while delivering responsive acceleration.
The 2020 Ford Escape outperforms its competition in gas mileage earning ratings of 27 mpg in the city and 33 mpg for highway driving. Not only is it more fuel-efficient than its competitors, but it also handles much better. The ride, handling, and performance are surprisingly smooth and responsive, and it tows up to 3,500 when fully equipped.
Safety Features
The 2020 Ford Escape is known for its reliability and safety features, which earned it an overall perfect safety rating of five out of five stars by The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
