Testing your car's battery requires just one tool and a few minutes of your time. To start, open your car's hood. Use a multimeter and turn it to a low voltage detection setting. Connect the black probe to the battery's negative terminal and the red probe to the battery's positive terminal. Voltage below 12.6 is too low for the engine's needs.
